People used to say that life begins at 40. The year I turned 40 I knew that I wanted to do something to make an impact on the rest of my life… so I decided to give up smoking. I quit through a program called “Freedom from Smoking” which was sponsored by the American Lung Assn. I learned that cigarettes were not my best friends, they were my worst enemies. They were not making me look sexy, they were stealing the vibrance of my skin, making my kisses taste like an ashtray and worst of all they were stealing years from my life. Quitting smoking was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I encourage every smoker to live a smokefree life and experience the benefits that living smokefree has to offer. Food tastes better, the air smells cleaner and you don’t wake up every morning with that nasty hacking cough. My lungs, my heart and my life are better since smoking stopped with me 17 years ago!
